Our Schedule

One of the most important considerations when choosing a Karate Program is PLACEMENT. Students should be in classes that are specifically geared to them. The placement of each student is based on age, size and level of experience. This is important not only when first enrolling but when the need arises to "move up" to a different class. The timing for class advancement is critical ~ done too soon and a student may become overwhelmed and frustrated; if not done soon enough then risk a lack of challenge with boredom setting in.

The staff of instructors at Bodyworks continuously monitor the ever-changing needs of students. Parental observation and input, birthdays, and motivation levels are constantly considered to assure students are where they belong and will benefit most. Take a few moments to review our class descriptions and schedules…

Grasshoppers 3 - 5
Years Old
"We love this class cuz it's wicked fun." The instructors always have exciting things for us to do. Even though we are little, we are learning that karate is more than punching and kicking. Falling on mats, practicing blocks on foam covered blockers, punching focus pads, and, of course, learning left from right is all fun stuff…BUT…we like it best when the instructors read the notes from Mom and Dad, the Daycare or Kindergarten teachers telling what a good job we are doing. Everybody in the waiting area claps real loud and we get little gold stars that we put on our uniforms. As much as we like it in this class, we heard that it's even more cool in the Ninja Turtle Class…..

Ninja Turtles 5 - 7
Years Old
Having fun is a must!!! However, Ninjas have to remember lots of really neat self defense techniques and forms. We are tested in class every 5 weeks. We have to be good at BodyWorks and outside of there if we want to get a new belt. We like the sparring, especially when we get to wear that wild looking hand, foot and head gear that Mom and Dad bought for us. The best part is when we do our Stranger Danger techniques on the instructors. They grab our wrists or shoulders or try to pick us up to take us away and we defend ourselves. The people in the waiting area really like that!!!

Dragon Warriors 7 - 9
Years Old
"Yes, we are still having fun" although the expectations are much higher in regards to material requirements, self discipline and focus. Belt testing is more extensive and eligibility is determined by home and school behavior as well as class attendance. Ninjas look at this as the "big kid" class, and sometimes that may seem a little scary. When a transition is made from the Ninjas to the Dragon Warriors we make sure the transition is one of celebration and positive reinforcement.

Thunder Dragons 9 - 11
Years Old
There is a marked increase in size, confidence and ability. Although the material requirements are the same as a Dragon Warrior, the Thunder Dragon's technique application is much stronger. The sparring is very exciting and always draws an ovation from the waiting area. Expectations continue to grow in the areas of focus, effort and discipline.

Juniors 12 - 15
Years Old
Our young adults are a special group. They have matured and are taking a serious interest in their material. The issue of personal safety is important but we still need to laugh and have fun!!! Sometimes it is a challenge for us to address their transition from "kid" to teenager. To do this successfully is very important as they are in a unique stage of life. This is when they need our expertise the most.

Adult Beginner 16 Years & Over
Moms, Dads, young athletes, professionals, physically fit and not so fit, aunts, uncles, grandparents… Over the years we have learned how to accommodate a wide variety of students' needs by focusing on the common ground they share: an eagerness to learn; the challenge of setting new goals; and the need for an activity that is both fun and fulfilling. If you are looking for a program where you can progress at your own pace according to your own abilities with the benefits of better health and self defense skills, call us and become a V.I.P. We will support you, guide you and reward your accomplishments.

Adult Advanced 16 Years & Over
Years Old
Students have progressed to the point where they are able to defend themselves from every conceivable angle and attack. Their knowledge of the Combined Kenpo System has grown by leaps and bounds. They are responsible for dozens of self defense techniques; they are reflecting the power of proper body mechanics (no longer are size and strength the determining factors); they are demonstrating the benefit of training ~ cardiovascular fitness, endurance, speed, power, agility, increased flexibility and growing confidence. Their goal? Black Belt Excellence!

Black Belt Class 16 Years & Over
Years Old
Our Black Belt class is a "brotherhood" of sorts. Students have shared tough workouts, passed difficult belt exams, conquered plateaus, helped one another develop high skill levels and now can take pleasure and pride in knowing that they have lived up to the high standards we have set for one another and for future generations. These students represent the answer to the age old question - "How long does it take the average person to make it to Black Belt?" The average person doesn't make it to Black Belt. Our goal? Black Belt and Beyond.

Black Belt Club
FINALLY! You have qualified for the BBC. Your enthusiasm for the Martial Arts has grown to the point where you want more. Learn the art of weaponry ~ staff, nunchaku, kama, sai, katana and more. Train for our competition team Falcons and the Demo Team. Intensify your training in sparring, material blending and ground grappling. In short, train with a group of students who have made a solid commitment to Black Belt and Beyond with a lot of extras!!!

Kung Fu
This system of Northern Praying Mantis is offered as a secondary program to Kenpo students or can be pursued as a primary style by new students. This type of Chinese Kung Fu is characterized by traditional and intriguing forms and weapons along with a Ju Jit Su based self defense system. Kung Fu practitioners are easily recognized by the speed, power, grace and fluidity of their mantis movements both in empty hand and weapons kata.
